Dr Firdaus Hanapiah graduated from University of Otago, New Zealand in 1990. He then returned to Malaysia to take up position as a clinical tutor at the Dept of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya. In 1993 he then joined the Eastman Dental Hospital, University College London where he was a part time honorary senior house officer.
In 1996 he completed an MSc in Oral Surgery from the Eastman and also was awarded the Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeon, England. He then once again returned to Malaysia to take a position as a lecturer at the Dept of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya.
He is now in private practice based in the DEMC Specialist Hospital, in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, as the consultant Oral & Maxillofacial surgeon as well as head clinician for the Firdaus and Sharina Dental Clinics as well as the Bangsar Dental Specialist Centre and Consultant OMFS Surgeon for the Smile Clinic Group as well as the Glamsmile Dental Specialist Centre in the Klang valley. He is also a registered Specialist in the National Specialist Register of Malaysia (NSR) and a member of the the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia.
He has since placed more than 6000 dental implants. He is also a pioneer in the field of virtual surgery in the surgical placement of implant. He is also currently interested in analysing immediately loaded implants.
He has lectured both in Europe as well as Asia. Namely Germany, Finland, Belgium as well as Singapore and Indonesia, and actively attending dental global conferences.
Dr Sharifah Aida Alhabshi is a Consultant Paediatrician based in Columbia Asia Hospital Petaling Jaya, Selangor. She completed her graduate degree (MBChB) from University of Sheffield, UK and pursued a career in paediatric.
She achieved her postgraduate qualification (Master in Paediatrics) from University of Malaya and served as a Paediatric Specialist and Lecturer in University of Malaya Medical Centre. She is an active child advocate and was part of the hospital Child Protector Committee (CPC) and Child Protection Team Petaling District.
She then worked in Columbia Asia Hospital Bintulu, Sarawak before returning to Petaling Jaya as a full time resident. Dr Sharifah Aida is a life member of the Malaysian Paediatric Association and registered as a General Paediatric in the National Specialist Register. She has wide clinical expertise in paediatric with special interest in child learning difficulties and child psychology.
Farida Islahudin graduated from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in 2003. She completed her pharmacy training under the Ministry of Health, Malaysia and continued to work in various hospitals in Selangor for 4 years. During this time she completed her Masters in Clinical Pharmacy in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She then returned to the University of Nottingham to pursue a PhD.
At present she is teaching pharmacy at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Her research area of interest is infection, nephrology and medication use. Farida has published various papers in these areas and is in the process of working on optimising medication use and understanding through shared decision-making in the pharmacy area.
Optimal use of medication includes conventional medication, supplement and herbs. She believes that patients and consumers have a right to decide on medication through information sharing. She hopes that patients and consumers are better informed to ensure safe medication taking.
